The Standard GRADING GUIDE for Canadian & Colonial Decimal Coins, written by James E. Charlton and Robert C. Willey, was first published in 1965 by the Whitman Publishing Company. This revised edition was printed in 1999 by The Unitrade Press.

The Guide to Canadian for Grading Coins of Canada is more comprehensive with “large-sized, high-definition images” accompanying each listing. Compared to the original Standard Grading Guide, it’s very different in many ways. It uses actual images, not drawings; secondly, the presentation is different; and lastly, all half-grades are covered for both sides of all types of circulation coins. The major difference is with the large-sized, high-definition images, which are much better for grading than drawings.

he updated and revised seventh edition of this comprehensive guide spells out the official American Numismatic Association grading standards for each United States coinage series. Every coin minted since 1793, from half cents to gold double eagles to commemoratives, is studied in 384 pages of easy-to-follow text and photographs.
